While many associate the word "Daiquiri" with frozen, sugary, strawberry slushies found at beach resorts, the true classic Daiquiri is a sophisticated, minimalist masterpiece.

🍸 A Brief History
The Daiquiri wasn't invented in a high-end London bar or a New York speakeasy. Its roots are actually in Cuba.
Legend has it that the drink was invented around 1898 by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox. He was working in a mine near a beach named—you guessed it—Daiquiri. Supposedly running out of gin while entertaining guests, he improvised with the local rum, adding lime and sugar to soften the edge.
The drink remained a local secret until it was introduced to the United States Navy and eventually championed by famous figures like Ernest Hemingway and John F. Kennedy. Today, it stands as a testament to the idea that you don't need complicated ingredients to make something luxurious.

The key to a perfect Daiquiri is freshness. Because there are only three ingredients, there is nowhere to hide. Put away the sour mix and squeeze fresh limes for the best result.
Ingredients:
2 oz Light Rum (A clean, white rum is best)
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3/4 oz Simple Syrup (Equal parts sugar and water dissolved together)
Garnish: A lime wheel or twist
Instructions:
Chill your glass: Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes.
Combine: Add the rum, lime juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.
Ice: Fill the shaker with plenty of ice.
Shake: Shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds. You want the shaker to get frosty cold; this aerates the drink and ensures it is perfectly diluted.
Strain: Double strain (using a fine mesh sieve if you have one) into your chilled glass to catch any ice chips.
Garnish: Add your lime wheel and serve immediately.
